Service Agreement 
Payment: At least half of payment for daily visits is due on or prior to start date of visit.  Remaining balance is due in full within 7 days of end of visit.  Balances not paid in full by 7 days following the last visit will be charged a 10% late fee in addition to original payment that is owed.  An additional 10% fee will be incurred every 15 days a payment is past due.  There will be an additional $35.00 charge for returned checks and payment will be expected in cash thereafter.  Overnight or live-in care is to be paid in full upon booking.

Early Return Policy:  There are no refunds or credits for early returns/or last minute changes to a scheduled pet care booking once care has begun.  There will be exceptions for inclement weather only.

Inclement Weather Policy: In the event of inclement weather, Take A Break Pet Care will do everything possible to still provide quality care to your pet(s). If we are unable to get to your home to provide care, your emergency contact will be notified. Take A Break Pet Care will not be liable for any unsatisfactory conditions with your home/pet, injury or sickness of your pet, theft or damage to your home, etc. should the need arise to call upon your emergency contact to care for your pet.  

Extreme Weather Policy: For the health and safety of your pets, we reserve the right to decline walks in over 90 degree temperatures, high humidity, if the pavement is too hot to walk them on, or extreme cold.  Humidity can prevent a dog from respirating to cool themselves down sufficiently.  Pavement will be tested by our walkers by placing the backs of their hands on the walking surface; if they can't keep their hand there for 5 seconds, then it is too hot for your dogs. Pavement/asphalt can be too hot even in lower temperatures.  If conditions are not safe for a walk, we will still visit your dog and do other activities with them. Some alternatives to walking include play in a grassy yard, play indoors, give them extra TLC, work on behaviors, and/or give them special mental stimulating treats (if allowed, such as treat balls, flavored ice cubes, puzzle feeders, etc.). We will always still provide them with a potty break, whether it be taking them for a short walk on grassy areas or letting them out into a fenced yard. Since the heat and humidity can affect different breeds and different individual dogs differently, final discretion will be given to your specific dog walker.  

Last Minute Booking Fee:  If service is scheduled less than 24 hours in advance, there will be an additional fee of $2 per daily visit and $5 per overnight stay.  These fees are applied to every visit for the duration of the  scheduled pet care.  

Cancellation Policy: Since we schedule so carefully and turn away other clients in order to 
give each pet their desired amount of time and care, we typically are unable to fill the empty spots a cancellation creates.  For ongoing care while a client is away:  If pet care is canceled less than 24 hours before the visit is scheduled to begin (beginning of the requested time frame), 100% of the total balance will still be owed.  If payment has already been received in full, you will receive a credit for 100 of the total, to be used for future pet care.  If no payment has been made at the time of cancellation, 100% of the total will be due (inclement weather excluded). If care is canceled 24 hours or more before the booking is scheduled to begin, all payments will be fully credited for future pet care, or not charged if the payment has yet to be made.  No refunds are given.  

For daily care clients:  Once service is scheduled, cancellations made prior to 9pm the night before the scheduled care will incur no penalty and a credit will be given.  If changes or cancellations are made after 9pm the night before the scheduled service, there will be no credit(s) given, and payment is expected in full.  

For overnight and live in care clients: Because we can only schedule a limited amount of these services due to the availability of our staff, and have to turn down any other requests once we have you on the schedule, payment for these services is due in full at the time of booking and will not be refunded or credited in any amount if care is canceled or changes are made. 

For any holiday care:  Because holidays are such a busy time, we book up well in advance and have to turn away additional requests once we are booked.  Once you schedule care over a holiday period, payment is due in full and no credits will be given for any canceled care or changes.  Holidays (Dec 24-25, Dec 31-Jan 1, Easter Fri-Sun, Memorial Day Fri-Mon, July 4, Labor Day Fri-Mon, Thanksgiving Wed-Sun) 

Key Policy:  The client is to provide to Take A Break Pet Care with TWO functional keys at the time of the consultation.  The client is responsible for making certain that all keys work properly. Take A Break Pet Care agrees to retain the keys in a safe/secure location.  Take A Break Pet Care will  use personal house and mailbox key(s) for pet care services only.  If a key is not provided at the time of the consultation or the client requests the key be returned after the pet care period, a $15 key pick-up/return trip fee will be owed.  Take A Break Pet Care is not responsible for any keys left outside if instructed to do so by the client. In the event Take A Break Pet Care is unable to access the home during pet care due to an inoperable key, we will utilize every resource available to gain entrance in order to ensure the pet(s) well-being.  The client will be responsible for all costs incurred, including but not limited to a locksmith, door/window repair,  as well as Take A Break Pet Care at a rate of $20 per hour.

Additional Service Fees:  Should Take A Break Pet Care need to take your pet(s) for any vet care, be on site for any home repair or locksmith services, or purchase any items or equipment that is necessary to care for your pet or home, an additional $20 per hour fee will apply as well as any reimbursements for supplies purchased, services performed, or care provided.  

Additional Home Visitors – If you have any other scheduled services coming to your home (such as pest control service, cleaning service, etc.), friends or family coming into the home, or if we are alternating duties with another pet care provider while we are pet sitting (highly discouraged), Take A Break Pet Care will not be liable for any damages, theft, sickness, injury, death, or other problems that may incur outside of our direct supervision of your home or pets.  For the safety of our staff, there is to be no other person staying in the home when overnight care is provided. Please inform us-in writing- any time we are scheduled to pet sit if you will have anyone other than Take A Break Pet Care entering the home.  

Medications: Take A Break Pet Care will attempt to administer medications as directed but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result.  If a Take A Break Pet Care provider is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from the client's pet(s) which has not been properly or currently vaccinated, the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may incur.

Animal Behavior: Animals behavior can be unpredictable. Take A Break Pet Care does not accept responsibility or liability for animal behavior, normal or otherwise, which results in injury to the client's animals. Further, if a Take A Break Pet Care team member is harmed or injured by the client's animals, the client/owner accepts full responsibility for the cost of any necessary medical attention required by either the Take A Break Pet Care provider or by the animals.

Fences – Take A Break Pet Care does not accept responsibility or liability for any client's pet(s) that escapes or becomes lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to use or leave the client's pet(s) in a fenced in area including electronic, wood, metal or any other type of fence. This includes free roaming with doggy doors. 
Other pets – We will not permit your pet(s) to interact with other animals.  If a stray animal that is off leash approaches, we will do our best to keep the interaction to a minimum and move away.  If the other pet should be aggressive and harm your pet, Take A Break Pet Care will not be held liable for any injury incurred to your pet.
